Deaton, George W., age 80 of Middletown OH, passed away on Monday, March 6, 2017 after a lengthy and debilitating illness. He was born to the late Brown and Pearl (White) Deaton on January 26, 1937 in Chavies, KY. He moved to Middletown, OH in 1952 and was also a former resident of Germantown, OH. George retired from Armco Steel after 35 years, was a licensed auctioneer for over 35 years, a lifetime member of the Middletown Sportsman’s Club and of the Germantown FOE. George was a Master Mason in the Masonic Body at Jefferson Lodge No. 90, Middletown, OH and was known for his generosity and fun-loving spirit among his many friendships over the years. He enjoyed watching and participating in auto racing, bluegrass music and fishing. As a young man, he spent a full racing season as a member of the pit crew on the racing team for Salt Walther, Sr. He enjoyed emceeing many bluegrass music festivals in the Germantown/Middletown area and made many good friends. He especially enjoyed his fishing trips with his buddies from Germantown. He was owner of several antique cars and Corvettes through his lifetime. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Tom and Mickey Deaton; and son, George Dean Deaton. He is survived by a daughter, Lori (Kevin) Desch and granddaughters, Emmaline and Anna of Germantown; beloved step-daughter, Carman (Randy) Jones and granddaughters, Kayla, Alyssa, and Miranda, of Fairfield; a brother, Bill (Sylvia) Deaton; sister in law, Pat Deaton, and numerous nieces and nephews, as well as great-nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Saturday March 11, 2017 at 10:00am at Germantown United Methodist Church, 525 Farmersville-Germantown Pike, Germantown, OH with Rev. Gary Wheeler officiating, interment immediately following at Grace Memorial Gardens in Middletown. The family will receive friends on Friday March 10 from 5-8PM at the church and Masonic Services will begin at 7:30PM.
