Harold G.Sears, age 85, of Farmersville, OH, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 16, 2014 at Otterbein Retirement Home in Lebanon, OH. Born in the place where he held the fondest memories in Farmersville, OH on the Sears Farm to James A. and Mary A. Sears (Smith). Harold always had a great sense of humor with a joke or two to tell, he loved making others laugh. He enjoyed participating in the Farmersville PTO Ministerial as an “end man”. Harold was a Volunteer Fireman for the Farmersville Fire Dept. from 1947 until 1961. He served his country in the Navy Reserve. He was a member of the Farmersville United Methodist Church. His working years were spent as an office manager at two car dealerships, starting with Smith Chevrolet in Farmersville, OH and ending at Howe Motors in Middletown, OH. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his 4 brothers Melvin, Norris, Donald, and Hugh Thomas Sears, and 2 sisters Alice Cordes and Juanita Focht. In November 2012 he lost the love of his life, Dortha (Kurtz) whom he was married to for 63 years, may he now rest in peace with her. Harold took great pride in his family who survive him, daughter and son-in-law Judy and Dave Strong of Venice, FL, and son and daughter-in-law Chris and Joni Sears of Germantown, OH. His four grandsons, Jason (Rachel) and Josh (Candice) Sears, Ryan (Regina) and Todd Hynes; great grandchildren, Anna, Cade, and Dawson Sears, Mariah and Emily Hynes. Sister-in-laws, Irene Sears of Farmersville, Sue (Ted) Behr of Dayton, and Joan Ward of Brookville; numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Funeral services will be at 10:00am Saturday, November 22, 2014 at Arpp & Root Funeral Home, 29 N. Main St, Germantown OH 45327 with Pastor Patti Matthews Officiating. Interment immediately following at Preble Memory Gardens. The family will received friends from 6-8pm on Friday November 21 at the funeral home.
