James "Jim" Eckhardt

James A. Eckhardt, of Saltillo, TN, passed away peacefully at Hospice of Dayton on December 26, 2024, at the age of 78. Born on September 17, 1946, in Middletown, Ohio, to the late Scharrold and Lucille (Maxwell) Eckhardt, Jim was a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He graduated from Madison High School in 1964, served in the US National Guard, and retired from General Motors after 41 years as a truck driver.

In his free time, Jim was passionate about family genealogy, always eager to trace back the roots of his family tree. He also enjoyed woodworking and took great pride in working on his barn-a project that brought him immense joy.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers Larry and Steve Eckhardt. He is survived by his children Alisa (Steve) Elliot, Michelle Bilbrey, Daron Eckhardt and Tiffany Holbrook (Caleb), his grandchildren Amanda, Justin, Collen, Sara, Kelsey, Kristen, Austin, Courtney, Allie, Brooks, Preston, Grant and Kynlee as well as his sister Jeni Eckhardt and sister-in-law Joy Eckhardt, and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Jim's life during a visitation at ARPP Root and Carter Funeral Home, 29 N Main St. Germantown, on Sunday, January 5, 2025, from 2:00-5:00 PM. The funeral service will take place at the same location on TUESDAY, January 7, 2025, at 10:00 AM, followed by a graveside service at Butler County Memorial Park.
