John D. Wellbaum, age 87 of Farmersville, OH passed away peacefully at Hospice of Dayton in February, 2024. He was born on July 2, 1936 to the late John Clarence and Ruth (Barnett) Wellbaum and graduated from Farmersville High School, class of 1954. John had a strong work ethic, he retired from DP&L after 44 years of service and also worked on his farm, he was also a devoted member of Trinity Church of New Lebanon where he served on council and was an Elder of the church. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Carolyn Sue Wellbaum and 1 great grandchild. John is survived by his 4 children Sue (Bob) Shears, Dan (Kay) Wellbaum, Barb (Tim) Hardin, Steve (Debbie) Wellbaum, 12 grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, 10 step great grandchildren, 3 sisters Anne Spencer, Mary Johnson, Nancy Hartrum and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will miss him dearly. The family will receive friends for a visitation on Sunday, February 25, 2024 from 3-5PM at Trinity Church of New Lebanon, 1830 W Main St. New Lebanon, OH 45345. On Monday February 26th, there will be a one hour visitation at the church from 10-11am with funeral services beginning promptly at 11am with Pastor Charlie Honeywell officiating. John will be laid to rest during a private burial at Trissel Cemetery, next to his wife. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Trinity Church of New Lebanon, or New Lebanon Fire Association.
