Lewis Haines

Lewis "Tommy" Allen Haines

Lewis, a beloved father, grandfather, husband, brother, uncle, and son, passed away on 24 September 2023, leaving behind a legacy of love, dedication, and service. Born on Saturday, 25 June 1949, to Vernon and Dorothy (Billmyer) Haines in Winchester, Virginia, he was the eldest of six siblings - Larry, Lucille, Louise, Lynette, and Lisa.

His journey of service began with his courageous enlistment in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. Shortly after returning home, he met the woman who would become his wife, Patricia Ann Parrish. A few years later, Lewis again heard the call to serve and re-enlisted, this time in the U.S. Air Force. In total, he served 21 years in the military before retiring.

Beyond his military service, Lewis was a devoted family man. He cherished his role as a father to three children and a loving husband. His family was his greatest joy, and he leaves a legacy of love that will continue to inspire future generations.

Lewis had a zest for life that was infectious. He found joy in simple pleasures like music, indulging in ice cream, savoring a good cup of coffee, and even passionately supporting his favorite football team, the Pittsburgh Steelers. His love for Jaguars (the automobile) and genuine leather reflected his appreciation for craftsmanship and quality.

Preceded in death by both his parents, his mother-in-law and father-in-law, his brother Larry, his sisters Lucille and Louise, and his nephew Todd, Lewis passed away on Sunday, 24 September 2023, in Kettering, Ohio - surrounded by family and friends. He leaves behind his wife of 53 years, three children, two daughters-in-law, six grandchildren, a granddaughter-in-law, two sisters, two sisters-in-law, two brothers-in-law, and several nieces and nephews.

His presence will be deeply missed by his family and all who knew him. Though he may no longer walk among us, his memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him. May we remember Lewis for his service, kindness, and unwavering commitment to his family, loved ones, and country. Rest in peace, Lewis. Thank you for your selflessness, love, and the countless memories.
