Mary "Dee" Smallwood

Smallwood, Mary Delores, age 85 of Miamisburg, OH passed away on January 8, 2019.  Dee, as most knew her by was born to the late William and Mary (Boyer) Eby in Carlisle, OH, was an alumni of Carlisle High School, Miami University of Oxford, and the University of Dayton where she received her Masters Degree in Special Education.  Dee retired from Eaton City Schools, was a lifelong, dedicated member of St. John's UCC in Germantown, was active in the community and was always willing to help others.  She was often seen visiting sick friends and community members in the hospitals and nursing homes.  Delores loved and treasured her beautiful family farm that was built by her own grandfather and where she resided until her last day.  Her farm brought her great comfort, joy, and contributed to her eternal youthful, generous and loving energy that all came to know her by.  Despite having her own trials in life, Dee continued to have strong faith in God and in the goodness of others she remained steadfast.  Along with her parents, Dee was preceded in death by Garry Smallwood, the father of their children.  She is survived by her 2 daughters, Kathy A. Smallwood and Connie L. Smallwood, 3 grandsons Daniel (Megan) Smallwood, Nick (Maria) Gentry, Brandon Johnson, 2 great grandchildren Sammi Smallwood and Blaze Smallwood, and 2 step great grandsons Dylan and Preston.  Dee, mother, grandmother and friend to many, you are loved deeply and you will be greatly missed.  Your light will forever shine on.  Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at 12:00 PM at St. John's United Church of Christ, 201 W Market St.  Germantown with Pastor Laureen Roe officiating, interment immediately following at Germantown Union Cemetery.  The family will receive friends prior to the service at the church beginning at 10:00am.
