Olin Matthews

Olin Dale Matthews, age 97 of Germantown, OH went home to be with the Lord on December 19, 2022 after a brief illness. He was born in Norwood, NC to the late Arthur and Carrie (Byrd) Matthews, served in the US Army and was a WWII Veteran. Olin graduated with his Bachelors degree in education from Anderson College and was a member of Germantown First Church of God. At one point he led a ministry that helped widowed or divorced people with miscellaneous auto or home repairs, he was always willing to help others and could fix about anything. Olin taught mainly high school math and retired from Valley View Schools after 40 years. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Virginia Matthews in 2013 and 4 siblings. Olin is survived by his daughters Karen (Everett) Sharp, Pamela Matthews, grandchildren Melinda Kinney, Matthew Sharp, great grandchildren Callista, Karina, Kaydence, Calix, his brother Van (Ola Mae) Matthews, and numerous extended family members and dear friends. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 3, 2023 from 4-6pm at the Arpp, Root & Carter Funeral Home, 29 N Main St. Germantown. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 4th, 2023 at 10:30am at Miami Valley Memory Gardens, State Route 48, Centerville, OH.
