Philip Gene Thomas, age 70 of Germantown, OH passed away at his home on May 5, 2022. He was born in Springfield OH to the late Clem and Luella (Rogers) Thomas, graduated from Tecumseh High School and was a veteran of the US Navy where he served as a medic. Phil was a member of the Germantown Lion's Club and co-founder of the Germantown Amateur Radio Society (GARS). Phil enjoyed amateur radio and writing, he wrote for the Amateur News Weekly and also had a column in the Miami Valley Newspapers (Germantown Press) for over 20 years. Phil is survived by his wife of over 51 years, Rilda Jean (Richey) Thomas, daughters Vangie (Zach) McCloskey, Renee (Chris) Dale, Theresa (Steve) Mynes, grandchildren Thea (Tyler) Coleman, Morgan (Brandon) Bridges, Joseph (Cris) McCloskey, Skylar McCloskey, Donovan (Keirsten) Marsh, great grandchildren Ashton and Liam Marsh and Liddian and Kannika McCloskey, his sister Charlotte (Rick) Jobe, niece Melissa and her son Sam, his brother Delbert Owen (Dottie) Thomas and niece and nephew Ben and Tabitha, sister-in-law Betsy Mitchell, niece Stephanie (Luis) Torres, nephew Ransford (Patti) Mitchell and his dearest friend since high school George (Carol) Ewing. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 11, 2022 from 5-7PM at the Arpp, Root and Carter Funeral Home, 29 N Main St. Germantown. Funeral services will be at the funeral home on Thursday, May 12, 2022 at 11:00am with Pastor Jon Kibler officiating, burial immediately following at Germantown Union Cemetery.
