Ruth E. Focht, age 92 of Germantown, OH passed away peacefully at Hospice of Dayton on January 10, 2025. She was born in Preble County, OH to the late Jesse Root and Alice Bunn and graduated from Gratis High School, class of 1950. Ruth was a lifetime member of the First Brethern Church of Gratis and retired as the head cook at Valley View High School. She was very involved in her church, helping at the food pantry for many years, serving as a Deacon, and she enjoyed working with the women's ministry making comforters and lap robes. Beyond church and volunteering, she enjoyed baking, cooking, reading and spending time with her family. Ruth was preceded in death in 2004 by her husband of 54 years, Clyde Focht, her father Jesse Root, mother Alice Osterberger, step father Louis Osterberger, brother James Gordon Root, sisters Marilyn (John) Meyers and Doris Jean (Roger) Williams, daughter-in-law Mary Focht and son-in-law Robert Fellers. She is survived by her children Jerry Focht, Greg (Carol) Focht, Barry (Andrea) Focht and Sharon Fellers, 6 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren, as well as a host of nieces, nephews and extended family members who will miss her dearly. Ruth will be laid to rest next to her husband, Clyde during a private committal service at Fairview Cemetery in Gratis.
