Steven Staker, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully at Kettering Medical Center on November 29, 2024, at the age of 77. Born on February 9, 1947, to the late Wilfred and Virginia Staker in Dayton, OH, Steve dedicated a significant portion of his life to his work and his family.
Steve graduated from Farmersville High School, class of 1965 and he proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. He retired after more than 30 years of service as a plumber from the Kettering City Schools, was an avid fisherman, a fan of the Cincinnati Reds but most of all, he was a great husband, father and grandfather.
He leaves behind his wife of 55 years, Marilyn (Hinkle) Staker, his two sons, Matt Staker (Kelli Stein) and, Mark (Theresa) Staker, two grandsons, Luke and Austin Staker; and his brother, Tim (Deborah) Staker as well as numerous extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
A visitation will be held on December 4, 2024, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Arpp, Root, and Carter Funeral Home in Germantown, OH. Following the visitation, a funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM, with a graveside service to follow at Trissel Cemetery in New Lebanon.
As we remember Steve Staker, we reflect on a life dedicated to his family, his community, and his friends, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and steadfastness. In lieu of flowers or memorial trees, the family suggests donations be made to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, 2361 Hylan Boulevard, Staten Island, NY 10306.
