Charles Thomas Day (Tom), age 73, of Germantown passed away Tuesday, January 7, 2014 at Hospice of Dayton. Tom was born September 6, 1940 in Huber Heights to the late Charles W. and Mildred (Slonaker) Day. Tom was a graduate from General Motors Institute and retired from General Motors Truck and Bus in 1998 where he served as a mechanical engineer for 40 years. Tom was an avid Valley View Spartans football fan. He loved the outdoors , fishing and hunting with his grandson Braden. He was also a member of the Miamisburg Moose Lodge #1645 where he enjoyed playing cards. Tom is survived by his wife of 49 years Mary (Hilderbran) Day, his son Shawn Day, daughter Tara (Andy) Keating, grandchildren Kaylie and Brody Day and Braden and Bryston Keating. Also, his brother James Day of Wingate, NC and extended family Rob and April Collins and their daughters Hannah and Abbie, and numerous nieces, nephews and special friends. Funeral services will be Monday, January 13, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Arpp & Root Funeral Home, 29 N. Main St. Germantown with Pastor Tom Vorhis officiating. Burial at Germantown Union Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday January 12, 2014 from 2:00-5:00 p.m. The family suggests if desired memorial contributions may be made Hospice of Dayton or Farmersville First Baptist Church.
